I recently read a manga titled Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) and I found it to be the best thing I’ve read since Ore Tama and Kodomo no Jikan.

The premise of Mirai Nikki is that twelve people must participate in a Battle Royale-esque game to kill each other until only one remains, who will then succeed Deus Ex Machina, the gamemaster’s position. Deus Ex Machina modifies a personal item belonging to each of the participants and turns it into a diary that details the future, and this is the main weapon that everyone fights with. When the diary is destroyed, so is the owner. The main characters of Mirai Nikki are Amano Yukiteru, a meek boy who is forced to team up with the yandere Gasai Yuno.

Yandere seems to be a pretty popular personality type for girls nowadays… Yuno’s axe skills would make Rena proud.

You can read the first 21 chapters of Mirai Nikki on SimpleManga here. The scanlation job is somewhat shoddy, but I don’t know of any other translated online source of the manga. It almost makes me want to take up scanlating the manga…if I can find a raw source, that is.

Darker than Black Episode 26

A new episode for Darker than Black -Kuro no Keiyakusha-, Episode 26, will be released on DVD. From what I’ve read, it doesn’t seem to be one that will tie up much of the loose ends from episode 25 but rather more about another mission that Hei was on.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Ending

I’ve been forced into picking up book #7 of Harry Potter for my brother, because he is out of country when the release happens. I’m not a massive HP fan like I’ve seen some folks devolve to and I’m terribly irked by the end-of-the-world outlook of the hysteria known as THOU-MUST-NOT-SPOIL-THE-END. I don’t care much about book endings; it’s the journey that matters. Some of the fanfiction spoilers that I’ve read are pretty illogical and horrible from a literary perspective. Stories must follow a definite format to produce the maximum character development and drama without destroying the plot.

I’m sure that the fanaticism will die down in a week. My policy on spoilers is a simple comment; people need to know how to control themselves. It just might turn out to be pure fanfiction anyways, but an archive is always nice.

This is my comment: the end is at the end of this post.
