Why I Watch What I Watch, 2006

I only got Bittorrent to work for me in June, so I can’t really evaluate anime that aired before the start of fall season, so shows such as Ouran High School Host Club, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, and Zero no Tsukaima aren’t noted below.

…Yes, this post is sort of an excuse for me to try out my new tablet. ^^;;

Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion
1. Lelouch
2. Nunnally
3. C.C.
Repeat for every episode.
I haven’t felt this much anticipation for the next week’s episode of an anime since Digimon over six years ago, mainly because of its continuous plot. Most of the characters’ lives are trainwrecks, and for those whose are not, are driven into wrecks by the indirect actions of the former. It’s almost as if CLAMP went into the characters’ profile development, too, except not, and if CLAMP actually worked on the show beyond character designs, the mecha battles wouldn’t be half as cool.

Laying Off Blogging Code Geass, Because WS Version Exists

December 19, 2006 on 5:35 pm | In Announcement, Anime Review, Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion | 1 Comment

I’m going to stop blogging Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion (as if I haven’t already) for a month or two because I’ve noticed that it was originally animated in widescreen, or a 5:3 dimension of some sort. I’d like to blog a series in its original, full glory.

See comparison screenshots below: (The top row is unedited, the bottom row is what I’ve found on TV thus far)
Please ignore the difference in coloration; that’s just my Photoshop messing up.

I’m assuming that the uncut version would come out on the DVD releases, so until I get my hands on the DVD episodes, Code Geass is not going to be blogged (unless it’s the final episode).

All Hail CLAMP Designs

Yep, I really should be doing homework right now… Instead of drawing Lelou-chan in Ashford Academy girls’ uniform…
Did you know it’s a known law that all lean & male CLAMP-designed characters will invariably look better in drag?

Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion Stage 6 - The Stolen Mask

Yeah, I’ve skipped over two episodes to post this… >_> **stares at backlog**
This episode takes a break from the drama of the last five and showcases the students of Ashford Academy instead. Lelouch is out of shape, or at least less fit than Suzaku. He needs to stop playing gambling chess and get out more.
It’s now safe to say that Pizza Hut is bound to show up in every episode, either in some hidden-away corner or blatantly in view.

Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion Stage 1: The Day when the Devil was Born

October 8, 2006 on 6:17 am | In Anime Review, Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion | 17 Comments

Lelouch and Suzaku climb up a slope in time to hear odd droning from the cicadas. The sound isn’t just from the insects but from the invasion of the Holy Britannia Empire upon Japan, on August 10th, 2010. The Japanese army is unable to defend itself from Britannia’s advanced technology, which includes the automatic battle machines, Knightmare Frames. Japan loses the war and in turn, loses its rights, freedom, and name. Britannia renames Japan to Area 11. In the aftermath of the war, a young Lelouch vows to destroy Britannia.
