What to Draw for Artists’ Alley?

Good news: I’ve gotten a table space for Anime Boston’s Artists’ Alley.

Not-as-good news: I don’t know what to sell at the table.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I should draw/make for Artists’ Alley? Fan art for which anime(s)? The convention is in late April and I’d like to be able to sell enough stuff to cover the cost of the table ($20).

  1. original (funny) 4koma stickers are a safe route. cheap to make, cheap for people to buy and it’s pretty easy to sell alot of them if they’re actually funny. just make up some oversized versions for signage. goodluck

  2. A Code Geass doujin featuring pizza and Orange-kun. The only problem would be almost no one would know what Code Geass is. In all seriousness, if you really want something to sell it would have to be easily identifiable by the crowd. I think just drawing whatever you have a deep interest in will work fine.

  3. Do some Nyor~on 4Koma stuff, stickers, prints, etc. Everyone seems to really like those style of drawings. :)

  4. Stickers are not allowed at Anime Boston, because the hotel where the convention takes place doesn’t want people to carelessly stick stickers onto the walls.

  6. I don’t think I can make toys/figures. Look at the title of this blog entry. The maximum outside-of-fine-arts things that I can do are sewing hair ribbons/arm bands and making fleece hats.

  7. What I sold at Artist Alley at ACEN was Prints and bookmarks of multiple shows XD
    I had like… a whole set of Fruits Basket bookmarks that sold for a ton of money XD Priced at 1$ each.
    I made about 4-6 bookmarks of each series.
    I had like 10 copies of each bookmark.
    And 5 copies of prints, since I knew they would not sell as much ^^;
