Welcome to the Year of the Pig. Now please excuse me while I call up my relatives for ‘Lucky Money’. If watching the international broadcast of the annual Chinese New Year Gala celebration thrown by CCTV and the Chinese government has taught me anything, it’s that the gala gets worse every year and the GODS FORBID the Chinese to ever tread into the rap industry. The person who decided that it was a good idea to feature Chinese rapping in the gala a few years ago needs to be shot, I quote a friend. Mandarin Chinese, at least, is never meant to rapped. The Cantonese-speaking people can do as they like since it’s all moonspeak to me.

  1. To use moonspeak, Gung Hei Fat Choy, and a Happy Chinese New Year. Cute Mikuru there… but maybe that’s the fearful look combined with the skimpy costume talking. ;) You got the essence of all there of them there, though.

    And peak, Chinese was NOT meant to be spoken with the odd rhythm of rap it hip-hop. Japanese is similarly frightening, of marginally less so, in rap… not that the dress of Japanese rap artists looks any different than their American counterparts.

    anyhow i think chinese rap is possible.. jay is one person who makes chinese rap reasonable.. but i never never heard catonese rap before! (stop bashing catonese ppl T_T)
