Why I Watch What I Watch, 2006

December 30, 2006 on 4:15 pm | In Entry with a Picture, Anime Review, Death Note, Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion, Otome wa Onee-sama ni Koishiteru, Happiness!, Kanon, Sumomo mo Momo mo ~Chijou Saikyou no Yome~ |

I only got Bittorrent to work for me in June, so I can’t really evaluate anime that aired before the start of fall season, so shows such as Ouran High School Host Club, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, and Zero no Tsukaima aren’t noted below.

…Yes, this post is sort of an excuse for me to try out my new tablet. ^^;;

Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion
1. Lelouch
2. Nunnally
3. C.C.
Repeat for every episode.
I haven’t felt this much anticipation for the next week’s episode of an anime since Digimon over six years ago, mainly because of its continuous plot. Most of the characters’ lives are trainwrecks, and for those whose are not, are driven into wrecks by the indirect actions of the former. It’s almost as if CLAMP went into the characters’ profile development, too, except not, and if CLAMP actually worked on the show beyond character designs, the mecha battles wouldn’t be half as cool.

C.C.’s buttocks are definitely some of the best assets that Lelouch has (and completely oblivious thereof, save for that scan from HobbyJapan) to date. I know that there’s been raves about Kallen’s breasts, but I’m more of a loli-type person, so Nunnally gets the thumbs-up from me in that department instead. Nunnally also makes being blind an acceptable moé fetish.

Lelouch is Lelouch, a sleek, sexy, and smart male lead. He shines the most when in Ashford Academy’s girls’ uniform. (THANK YOU CLAMP!!)

Death Note
1. L
2. Misa-Misa
I started watching Death Note because of the excellent manga it is, but the show makes me realize how dialog-heavy and heavy the story actually is. Things for the manga were never the same after the infamous Death Note Swimming parodies. My biggest interest in the show is to see how the TV anime would end, as opposed to the manga and movie finales.

Happiness!
1. Jun ♥ (and only Jun ♥)

Kanon
1. Bridal Training™
I was literally forced back into watching Kanon at IM-point. The show has now become my primary source of Bridal Training™ material. I’ve learned the ways of the
taiyaki guzzler Ayu
and loli fox spirit Makoto   ,
but sickly girl Shiori, swordswoman Mai, and real Wife Material Sayuri remain beyond my comprehension. As for Nayuki, I’ve been trying to convince people that the sleepy zombie cousin who is bound to be snubbed time and time again isn’t a role model to waste time and resources on. I still haven’t gotten over how hideously huge the girls’ eyes are, as every single close-up shot unsettles my stomach greatly.

Otome wa Onee-sama (Boku) ni Koishiteru
1. Mizuho?
2. Kana?
I’m not really sure as to why this show hit it off with me. For the record, I despise (pseudo-)lebianism and plain ol’ school life, which OtoBoku basically was. Maybe it’s because of the trap? Or the loli? I know that certain real-life Japanese guys look hot in gothic maid fashion, so perhaps it’s the elegant trap that is Mizuho that reeled me in. Of course, Mizuho will never be as awesome as Jun, because he didn’t go moé and start dry humping some girl’s arm whom he just met moments ago.

Sumomo mo Momo mo ~Chijou Saikyou no Yome~
1. Lolis
This started out as a supplementary source of Bridal Training™ material but quickly degenerated into pseudo-ecchi pleasure that I watch one, delete, and never think back to again.
