I’ve now updated the entries with air dates and opening and ending themes (if known).

I know that I’ve utterly slacked off in the past two months and pretty much stopped updating this site, and I blame schoolwork for the most of it. Winter vacation starts today for me, so perhaps I can spend the next three weeks catching up with all of the missing entries. For the record, I’m currently watching Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion, Death Note, Kanon, Otome wa Onee-sama (Boku) ni Koishiteru, and Sumomomo Momomo ~Chijou Saikyou no Yome~.

Now looking ahead to the upcoming anime season: 2006/2007 Winter. The following list contains shows that I have at least a passing interest in and spans from December 2006 through February 2007, in alphabetical order. Anime that are scheduled to air in next March and on are counted in the 2007 Spring season or later.

Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!
Air date: January 7th, 2007
Opening Theme: A Happy Life by Hayashibara Megumi
Ending Theme: Lucky & Happy by Hayashibara Megumi
Interest: Middle
Story: It is the year 2035, and many schools are facing the danger of closing
because of the declining birth rate, which equates to less students. One such school is the Seiou Private School, where a transfer student, Amamiya Manabi, begins a whole new wind.
Impression: New loli goes to school and meets other lolis? An apocalyptic future
in which loli production is in decline? Is this Hidamari Sketch meets Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora? Like Hidamari, I think this can go either way, either really boring/cheesy, or really genki and cute.

Hidamari Sketch
Air date: January 11th, 2007
Opening Theme: ??? by Asumi Kana, Mizuhashi Kaori, Shintani Ryoko, Goto Yuko
Ending Theme: ??? by ???
Interest: Middle
Story: Yuno enters the Yamabuki Private Art (high) School and starts living by
herself in the nearby apartment complex, Hidamari Condominiums. She meets people from her school in the apartment and plenty of crazy things happen daily there, because the Hidamari Condos are infamous for the odd artists who dwell there. Even though Yuno hasn’t gotten used to her new life, she feels the kindness and warmth of the people and her friends, as she slowly heads toward her dream.
Impressions: This sounds like a slice-of-life sort of thing, and I’m very iffy when it
comes to the slice-of-life genre, as some shows can be incredibly slow and boring. I don’t see a male harem lead in the show right off the bat, so I’m counting on the condo residents to be crazy enough to keep the show rolling.

Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora (Kyoshiro and the Eternal Sky)
Air date: January 5th, 2007
Opening Theme: Kurosu*Haato by CooRie
Ending Theme: Madoromi no Rakuen by Ceui
Interest: High
Story: It is ten years after the greatest crisis in the history of mankind, the Great
Collapse. The setting is a huge school campus-city known as Academia, the symbol of rebuilding from the disaster. While Shiratori Kuu, a high school student, lives her school life, she feels that there’s something lacking in her unchanging and unchangeable self. Every now and then, Kuu would have the same dream about a prince who’d come and see her. At the school festival, a boy who looks exactly like the prince in her dream appears. His name is Ayanokoji Kyoshiro, and he says the same words as the prince in Kuu’s dreams to her, “Let’s go…together.”
Impressions: All I have to say is, Kyoshiro looks sexyhot. Any anime with a cute guy
like him deserves at least one episode watch from me. ^o^

Les Misérables Shoujo Cosette
Air date: January 7th, 2007
Opening Theme: Kaze no Mukou by Saito Yuki
Ending Theme: mon mamman by Saito Yuki
Interest: Low
Story: An anime adaption of the famous French novel Les Misérables.
Impressions: At the first glance, an anime about a loli who probably created a
whole line of ragtag gothic clothing in modern clothing industry seems intriguing, but the fact that the show is slated to run for 52 episodes will bore me. I don’t enjoy most classical literary works, regardless of medium, and I don’t want to come out of class only to be saddened upon watching the show.

Rozen Maiden ouvertüre
Air date: December 22nd, 2006
Opening Theme: Baragoku Otome by ALI PROJECT
Ending Theme: Utsusemi no Kage by kukui
Interest: High
Story: The two-part Sugintou-centric tragic story about the battle of rose maidens!
Impressions: I think the two episodes of the show are supposed to be about
Sugintou’s background. I’ll be watching this because it’s quick and short, and Suigintou makes emo look cool.

Saint October
Air date: January 4th, 2007
Opening Theme: ??? by ???
Ending Theme: ??? by ???
Interest: High
Story: Is it the future? Is it the past? A bizarre and phantom world that wriggles in
the darkness of the demon city. Mysterious freak incidents that can’t be explained by science continue to occur in the city. A group of young girl detectives with special powers gathered to solve the cases.
There’s the 14-year-old orphan, Hayama Kotono, the Black Loli, who lives in a monastery; her classmate and idol, Shirafuji Natsuki, the White Loli; the mysterious girl who battles against the nightmares of her past life, Hijiri Misaki, the Red Loli.
The ones who deliver judgment upon the world, the ones who protect the world. Who is righteous and who is evil? After the girls meet a boy who has lost his memories, the gears of the story begin to turn little by little. Before long, to solve the freak cases, the three girls must confront a great destiny that stakes the very existence of mankind.
Impressions: A battling loli detective brigade? I’m so in. \^o^/

SHUFFLE! MEMORIES
Air date: January 7th, 2007
Opening Theme: ??? by YURIA
Ending Theme: ??? by ???
Interest: Middle
Story: A director’s cut version of the original SHUFFLE! anime with new opening
and ending themes. The show will focus on the stories of each of the five main girls, Lisianthus, Nerine, Kaede, Asa, and Primula, with a new original story interjected somewhere.
Impressions: My main interest in SHUFFLE! stems from the original erogame and
the anime adaption disappointed me to a certain degree because of the horrible art quality. SHUFFLE! MEMORIES sounds like it’ll just be a rehash with more details on the girls’ backgrounds with no improvement on quality.

Venus Versus Virus
Air date: January 11th, 2007
Opening Theme: Bravin’ Bad Brew by Riryka
Ending Theme: Shijun no Zankoku by Yousei Teikoku
Interest: Middle
Story: A girl named Lucia exterminates the “Invisible Ones”, which are demons
known as Viruses that consume the souls of people. Another girl, named Sumire, pricks her finger on Lucia’s brooch one day and gains the ability to see the demons, and she and Lucia begin fighting against the demons together.
Impressions: I think this is another one of those shows that can go either way with
any middle ground because the premise gives it a fairly high expectation of execution. The battles of Lucia and Sumire vs. the demon have to be visually appealing without resorting to similar tactics week after week and cheese-tastic special effects. Somehow, a right amount of comedy and daily life has to make its way into the plot, too, so that it’s not all battle-ridden boring.

Winter Garden
Air date: December 27th, 2007
Opening Theme: Forget-me-not by Sato Hiromi
Ending Theme: Uintaa Gaaden by Sanada Asami
Interest: Middle
Story: Di Gi Charat Dejiko works part-time at a cake shop. On Christmas Day one
year, she meets a boy named Senba Takuro in a park on her way home from work, and runs into him again in the town later. Dejiko quickly falls in love with Takuro.
Impressions: I’ve never seen any episodes of the original Di Gi Charat series, so I
wouldn’t have recognized Winter Garden’s connection to the show if I didn’t see the characters’ names. Winter Garden is a two-part series with two episodes, so I’ll probably watch it along with Rozen Maiden ouvertüre.

And looking further ahead into the 2007 Spring season, I am anticipating Darker than BLACK -Kuro no Keiyakusha-, Keetai Shoujo, Lucky☆Star, Nagasarete Airantou, Romeo X Juliet, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, Touka Getten, and that one show about a boy and his mermaid bride.
